Question 1

Are San Jose Jewelers fan and class rings officially licensed?

Accepted Answer

Yes. San Jose Jewelers offers officially licensed fan rings and class rings through each university and its authorized licensing partners. When you purchase a custom college ring or university ring from San Jose Jewelers, you can feel confident knowing that all university seals, logos, and trademarks used in your design are approved for legal use and meet official licensing standards. Official licensing helps ensure your college ring features authentic school artwork, accurate branding, and high-quality design details that honor your university with pride. With over 40 years of jewelry experience, San Jose Jewelers is proud to create licensed custom college rings that celebrate your achievements and school spirit.

Question 2

What is the typical production time for San Jose Jewelers fan or class rings?

Accepted Answer

The typical production time for most San Jose Jewelers fan rings and class rings is 6–10 weeks from the date your order is placed. Every custom college ring is made to order and handcrafted based on your unique design selections, including ring top style, band style, metal type, university seal, and stone options. Because each university ring is individually customized, production times can vary slightly depending on material availability, design complexity, and seasonal order volume. Production timelines may be longer during peak ring seasons, especially in the Spring and Fall around graduation ceremonies and ring celebrations. If you need your college class ring for a May graduation, December graduation, alumni event, or special milestone, we strongly recommend ordering as early as possible to help ensure on-time delivery. Once your order is submitted, you can track the progress of your custom ring anytime through the San Jose Jewelers order status portal.

Question 3

Does San Jose Jewelers offer in-person sizing events or pop-ups?

Accepted Answer

Yes. San Jose Jewelers offers in-person ring sizing appointments, university pop-up events, and private consultations for customers shopping for custom fan rings and class rings. You can visit our showroom in Waco, Texas for professional ring sizing, personalized design guidance, and the opportunity to see select college rings and university jewelry in person. Meeting with our team allows you to compare ring styles, metal options, stone choices, and sizing before placing your order. During the Spring and Fall semesters, San Jose Jewelers also travels to universities across Texas and other select states for college ring pop-up events and sizing appointments. These events are a great opportunity for students, alumni, and families to get professionally sized, view sample rings, and ask questions about designing a custom college ring. You can view all upcoming sizing events and pop-up locations on our events page.

Question 4

What is San Jose Jewelers’ return and cancellation policy?

Accepted Answer

Because every San Jose Jewelers fan ring and class ring is custom-made to your specifications, we generally do not accept returns on completed custom ring orders. Each custom college ring is individually created based on your selected ring style, metal type, university seal, stone options, engravings, and other personalized design choices. To provide flexibility during the early stages of production, San Jose Jewelers offers a 7-day cancellation window from your original order date. Orders canceled within the first 7 days are eligible for a full refund. After 7 days, production planning, material sourcing, and custom design work may already be underway. At that point, any deposit paid becomes non-refundable, but your deposit can be converted into store credit for future use with San Jose Jewelers. In some cases, an existing San Jose Jewelers ring may also qualify for gold credit or trade-in value toward a new custom ring purchase, depending on the ring’s condition and materials. For complete details, please review our full refund and cancellation policy.

Question 5

What types of stones are used in San Jose Jewelers fan or class rings?

Accepted Answer

San Jose Jewelers offers several premium center stone options for custom fan rings and class rings, allowing you to choose the look, durability, and budget that best fits your style. Our most popular center stone options for custom college rings include: Moissanite — A highly durable gemstone known for exceptional brilliance and fire. Moissanite is a popular choice for customers who want maximum sparkle at a lower price point than traditional diamonds. Lab-Grown Diamonds — Real diamonds created in a controlled laboratory environment. Lab-grown diamonds offer the same physical and visual properties as natural diamonds while often providing better size and value. Earth-Mined (Natural) Diamonds — Traditional diamonds formed naturally over billions of years. These are often chosen by customers seeking timeless luxury and long-term heirloom value. In addition to diamond options, San Jose Jewelers also offers a variety of colored stones, birthstones, and alternative gemstones to help personalize your university ring even further. Whether you want classic diamond brilliance or bold school-color styling, our custom college rings can be tailored to match your vision.

Question 6

What metals are available for San Jose Jewelers fan or class rings?

Accepted Answer

San Jose Jewelers offers several premium metal options for custom fan rings and class rings, allowing you to choose the balance of durability, appearance, and budget that best fits your style. Our most popular metal options for custom college rings include: Platinum Silver — San Jose Jewelers’ signature silver alloy designed to offer a bright white appearance with improved durability and tarnish resistance compared to traditional sterling silver. This is a popular choice for customers who want the look of white precious metal at a more affordable price point. 10K Gold — A durable and budget-friendly gold option that is well-suited for everyday wear. Many customers choose 10K gold for college class rings because it offers excellent strength and long-term value. 14K Gold — A premium gold option with higher gold content, richer color, and a more luxurious feel. 14K gold is a popular choice for customers wanting an elevated heirloom-quality university ring. Depending on your design, yellow gold, white gold, and rose gold color options may also be available. If you are interested in alternative metals or specialty materials for your custom ring, our team would be happy to discuss available options with you.

Question 7

What if my ring size is wrong? Does San Jose Jewelers offer resizing?

Accepted Answer

Yes. San Jose Jewelers offers ring resizing for eligible fan rings and class rings as part of our warranty coverage for qualifying metal types. If your custom college ring does not fit perfectly after delivery, our team can help guide you through the ring resizing process. We understand that sizing can sometimes vary, especially with online orders, which is why we work closely with customers to help achieve the best possible fit. The availability of resizing depends on factors such as the ring design, metal type, and the amount of size adjustment needed. While many custom class rings can be resized successfully, some highly specialized or alternative metal designs may have resizing limitations. If you have sizing concerns before or after placing your order, we recommend contacting the San Jose Jewelers team for personalized assistance. For complete details, please review our full warranty and resizing policy.

Question 8

Do San Jose Jewelers fan and class rings come with a warranty?

Accepted Answer

Yes. San Jose Jewelers provides a lifetime warranty on eligible 10K and 14K gold fan rings and class rings, helping protect your investment for years to come. Our lifetime warranty for qualifying gold custom college rings includes: Professional Cleaning & Polishing — Helps maintain the appearance and shine of your ring over time. Ring Resizing — Available for eligible ring designs and size adjustments. Workmanship Coverage — Protection against qualifying workmanship-related issues for the life of the ring. Because every custom college ring is designed for long-term wear and often becomes a meaningful keepsake or family heirloom, we believe ongoing support is just as important as craftsmanship. Warranty coverage can vary based on the ring’s metal type and design. Details for other materials, including Platinum Silver, are available in our full warranty policy.

Question 9

When should you order your San Jose Jewelers custom fan or class ring?

Accepted Answer

We recommend ordering your San Jose Jewelers custom fan ring or class ring as early as possible, especially if you need it for a graduation ceremony, ring celebration, or other important milestone. To help ensure on-time delivery for major graduation seasons, we recommend the following order deadlines: May Graduation: Order by March 1 December Graduation: Order by October 1 Most custom college rings and university rings require approximately 6–10 weeks for production, since each ring is made to order based on your selected top style, band design, metal type, university seal, stone options, and custom engravings. Ordering early helps reduce stress, provides more flexibility for design changes, and gives extra time for shipping or potential sizing adjustments before your big day. If your graduation or event date is approaching quickly, we encourage you to contact the San Jose Jewelers team as soon as possible to discuss rush availability.

Question 10

What is the difference between a fan ring and a class ring?

Accepted Answer

The difference between a fan ring and a class ring often comes down to university licensing agreements and legal terminology, not necessarily the ring’s quality or craftsmanship. Some universities have exclusive contracts with specific jewelry companies that grant only those companies the right to market certain rings as official class rings or allow them to participate in official university ring ceremonies. Because of these legal agreements, other licensed jewelers may be required to use the term fan ring instead, even when offering a similar high-quality custom university ring. A fan ring is an officially licensed university ring that can be purchased and worn by students, alumni, parents, and fans to celebrate school pride and achievements. In many cases, fan rings offer similar customization options as traditional college class rings, including custom ring tops, band styles, metals, stones, and engravings. If participating in a university’s official ring ceremony is important to you, we recommend checking with that school’s alumni association or ring program for current eligibility requirements.

Question 11

Can alumni order a San Jose Jewelers class ring?

Accepted Answer

Yes. San Jose Jewelers creates custom fan rings and class rings for current students, alumni, graduates, and even family members celebrating a loved one’s academic journey. You do not need to be a current student to order a custom college ring. Many customers purchase rings years after graduation as an alumni class ring, a meaningful keepsake, or as a replacement college ring after losing or damaging their original ring. We frequently help customers replace lost class rings, upgrade older rings into premium designs, or create custom university rings that better reflect their personal style. Whether you graduated recently or decades ago, our team can help you design a ring that honors your achievements and school pride.

Question 12

Can I customize my college class ring online?

Accepted Answer

Yes. San Jose Jewelers makes it easy to design your own college ring online using our advanced 3D custom ring builder. Our online class ring builder allows you to customize your ring in real time by selecting your preferred ring top style, band design, metal type, university seal, stone type, stone color, and engraving options. The interactive 3D experience lets you view your custom college ring from multiple angles before placing your order, helping you shop with confidence from anywhere. We are continually adding new customization features to make the design process even more powerful and personalized.

Question 13

How do I find my ring size for ordering online?

Accepted Answer

There are several easy ways to determine your ring size before ordering a custom fan ring or class ring online from San Jose Jewelers. For the most accurate fit, we recommend one of the following options: Request an At-Home Ring Sizing Kit — Contact San Jose Jewelers and our team can help arrange a ring sizing kit for you to use at home. Visit a Local Jeweler — Most local jewelry stores can professionally measure your ring size in just a few minutes. Attend a San Jose Jewelers Pop-Up Event — We regularly host university sizing events and pop-ups where you can be professionally sized by our team. Proper sizing is especially important for custom college rings since ring width, top size, and band style can affect how a ring fits on your finger. If you are unsure about sizing, our team is happy to help guide you before you place your order.

Question 14

What is Platinum Silver?

Accepted Answer

Platinum Silver is San Jose Jewelers’ premium silver alloy designed to provide the bright white appearance of precious metal jewelry with improved durability and tarnish resistance compared to traditional sterling silver. Unlike standard silver jewelry, Platinum Silver was selected to offer customers a more durable option for everyday wear, making it especially popular for custom fan rings and class rings. It delivers a premium look while offering a more affordable price point than gold, making it an excellent option for customers who want both value and long-term wearability. Many customers choose Platinum Silver for their custom college ring because it combines luxury appearance, strength, and better resistance to tarnishing, helping keep the ring looking beautiful over time.

Question 15

Can I add my graduation year, degree, or organization to my ring?

Accepted Answer

Yes. San Jose Jewelers offers custom engraving options to make your fan ring or class ring even more personal and meaningful. Many customers choose to add engraving to the back of their university seal or other designated areas of the ring. Popular engraving choices include: Graduation Year Initials or Name Degree or Major Greek Letters / Fraternity or Sorority Letters Bible Verses Special Dates or Personal Messages Custom engraving allows your college ring to tell your unique story and celebrate the milestones, memories, and achievements that matter most to you.

Question 16

What finger do you wear a college class ring on?

Accepted Answer

There is no single “correct” finger for wearing a college class ring. Traditionally, many people wear their class ring on the ring finger of their right hand or the ring finger of their non-dominant hand, but personal preference is what matters most. Some graduates choose to wear their custom college ring on: Right Ring Finger — One of the most traditional choices for class rings Left Ring Finger — Popular for sentimental or symbolic reasons Middle Finger or Index Finger — Chosen by those who prefer a bolder look or better comfort The best finger for your university ring often depends on your lifestyle, hand size, and how prominently you want to display your ring. Many customers also choose the finger that feels most comfortable based on the ring’s width and top size.

Question 17

How much do San Jose Jewelers college rings cost?

Accepted Answer

The price of a San Jose Jewelers custom college ring varies based on the ring design, metal type, stone selection, and level of customization. Key factors that affect class ring pricing include: Ring Top Style Band Design University Seal Size and Options Metal Type Center Stone Type Custom Engraving or Personalization Most Platinum Silver college rings typically range from $600–$2,000, depending on the design and stone choices.
